We have always prided ourselves that we are able to cater for everyone’s needs; young,old,male,female, even some with disabilities. We use judo as a good education aswell as giving everyone the oppurtunity to participate in all that judo has to offer
The club runs a comprehensive structure of examination and for the awarding of grades with respect to all round judo abilities of its members at all levels and ages – from the novice to world class!
The club is often visited for its reputation by many other clubs and students from all over the world. In 35 years, the club has had many successes in national and international levels
At present, the club has many students of all ages, sexes and ethnicities. There are regular beginner’s induction courses which normally run for two weeks, separately from the normal classes.
What is judo
Judo is a dynamic full contact acitivity, its origins are from Japanese arts and as such can be physically and mentally demanding. It represents a form such as wrestling but it uses clothing (judo shirt) for fighting.
Judo uses throwing techniques arm locks and strangles.You may fight standing up or on the ground. There is no punching or kicking.
It incorporates a large range of exercises helping strength stretching and stamina as well as games for fun for all to enjoy.
Facilities
we have a purpose built dojo with padded surround walls, On site parking, showers and lockers. The dojo has heating and air-conditioning.
