The Sobell Judo club has been established for over 35years and we are proud to boast that one of the first students to attend the opening back in 1974 was a fourteen year old boy called Sampson Sampson, who started judo for the first time as a white belt. 34 years later, Sampson is now the chief instructor of the club, and holds a muster grade 6th Dan Red and White Belt.
The Sobell Judo Club is one of the very few purpose built dojos (judo room) where it has been said by many visitors that there is a humble atmosphere when you enter the Dojo.
We teach judo along very traditional lines and we amplify many traditional values, but at the same time we incorporate the adaptations and changes of modern judo.
At present, the club boasts (when they are all here) 25/30 adults ranging from first time white belts up to contest grade 5th Dan (black belt). There are a total of 15 Dan Grades plus approximately the same in Kyu grades (below black belt).
